It was an early start, but the crew and I couldn't wait to get out on the water for a day of fishing at Lake Pleasant in Peoria, Maricopa County. June is a prime time for lake fishing, with the warm weather and active fish making for some exciting angling. We met up at the Scorpion Bay Grill under clear skies, loaded up the gear, and headed out to the lake.

The plan was to cover some water and try a variety of techniques - jigging, trolling, and light tackle. As soon as we got the lines in, the Striped Bass started to fire up. <div>Day time fishing was great with 10+ fish in the 2-6lb range and 30 more about 1lb. Fishing was pretty consistent until about 10:30am then it slowed down.</div>

<div>The bite was slow and steady all morning producing great fish with the average being between 3 and 5 lb. the big fish was 8.7lbs for the. we also caught quite a few catfish as well as striped bass.</div>

Trolling for big striper has been very effective! catching fish from 5lbs to 14lbs. Bait fishing has been good too with a lot for smaller size fishing but the variety of fish being caught is great. Bait fishing using anchovies in 50-60ft of water just off the bottom seems to be working best  producing striper, catfish, white bass and the occasional carp.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, we still managed to catch some fish today. Although it was supposed to be a sunny day, it turned out to be windy and cold with occasional bouts of rain. Nevertheless, our determination paid off as we were able to reel in quite a few fish. Despite the challenging weather, bites came frequently and steadily throughout the day.
