It was an early start, but the crew and I couldn't wait to get out on the water for a day of fishing at Lake Pleasant in Peoria, Maricopa County. June is a prime time for lake fishing, with the warm weather and active fish making for some exciting angling. We met up at the Scorpion Bay Grill under clear skies, loaded up the gear, and headed out to the lake.

The plan was to cover some water and try a variety of techniques - jigging, trolling, and light tackle. As soon as we got the lines in, the Striped Bass started to fire up. We met bright and early at 7am at the Scorpion Bay Grill, got our gear sorted, and headed out to the lake under clear skies. What a day we had out on the water at Lake Pleasant in Peoria, Arizona! Trolling for big striper has been very effective! catching fish from 5lbs to 14lbs. Bait fishing has been good too with a lot for smaller size fishing but the variety of fish being caught is great. Bait fishing using anchovies in 50-60ft of water just off the bottom seems to be working best  producing striper, catfish, white bass and the occasional carp.
